Jacqueline Ray Newell, 72, of Suffolk passed away on August 23, 2012. A native of Suffolk she was the daughter of the late Charles Joseph Ray and Mattie L. Hoggard Ray. She was the manager of High's Ice Cream for many years.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, David Lee Newell, Sr. of Suffolk; daughters and son-in-law Sandra N. and Frederick DeArment of New Bern, NC and Pamela L. Newell of Suffolk; sons and daughter-in-law David Lee Newell, Jr. and Donald W. and Deborah Newell, all of Suffolk; grandchildren: Ryan DeArment, Shawn DeArment, Steven DeArment, Kimora Newell, David Newell, III, Michael Newell, Contessa Smith, Madison Newell and Robert Windsor; great grandchildren: Michael Newell, Haley Newell, Jacob Newell, Ricky Smith and sister and brother-in-law: Sarah and Raymond Hampton.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Holly Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Raymond Hampton officiating. Friends may join the family at the funeral home for visitation on Sunday evening from 7 – 8 p.m. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com
