Jack Raymond Nurney, 82, of Smithfield, Virginia passed away February 9, 2007. He was predeceased by his first wife, Martha Harris Nurney; and two brothers, Quinton Nurney and Arthur Lee Nurney. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Josie S. Nurney of Smithfield; three sisters, Mary Jane Phippins, Mildred Nurney both of Suffolk, and Ethel Harris of Isle of Wight County; three brothers, John M. Nurney of Isle of Wight County, James "Pete" W. Nurney of Windsor, and Raleigh "Buck" R. Nurney of Isle of Wight County; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Monday, February 12, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Mill Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery with Sheriff Charlie W. Phelps officiating.
