Baker
August 23, 1947 – November 15, 2024
Jack O. Baker, 77, passed on November 15, 2024. Born in Nansemond County, VA, the son of the late Clifton and Doris Baker. He was predeceased by his son, Jason Wade Baker, and nephew, James P. Holland.
After high school, Jack served two years in the United States Army. He then went to work at Union Camp Corporation in Franklin, VA where he worked in Sheet Finishing Department for 37 years before retiring. From a young age, Jack enjoyed helping his father farm and in later years, tending his own garden that he took much pride in. His hobbies included lake fishing, deer hunting and trading vehicles often!
Jack is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jeannette; daughter, Jodie Baker Brinkley; two grandchildren, Noah Walton Brinkley and Kadie Olivia Brinkley; sister, Nancy Holland (Phil) and nephew, David Holland (Michelle) and daughter, Emma; sister-in-law, Martha Wheeler (Sammy) and niece, Kelly Ellis (Todd) and sons, Grant and Graham Ellis, and other loving family and many friends.
Jack was a member of Holy Neck Christian Church, the Masonic Lodge, and Peanut City Crappie Club. He was a lifetime member of Box Elder Hunt Club where he was known as "Baby Bear".
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Spring Christian Church. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation on Tuesday night from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
