James Richard Brown, 91, of Suffolk, VA passed away January 8, 2010. He was born in Delaware the son of the late William H. and Julia Ward Brown. He was predeceased by his brother, Gilmer A. Brown. Richard retired as an inspector for VDOT and later went on to work as a self employed Private Detective. He was a member of Holmes Presbyterian Church in Bayview, VA and attended Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Richard is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lorraine Charnock Brown; son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Adele Brown all of Suffolk, VA; grandchildren, Wade Brown and wife, Ashley, Debbie Wigg and husband, Rob; great grandchildren, Landon Wigg, Kyle Brown, Ryan Wigg, Savannah Brown; sister-in-law, Mellie Cottle Brown; nieces and nephew.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA with Rev. Jim George officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Capeville Masonic Cemetery. Friends may join the family other times at the residence of Donnie and Adele Brown.
