Isaac McCoy Evans, 66, went home to be with the Lord on August 21, 2008. He was born in North Carolina the son of the late Willie and Addie B. Evans. He was predeceased in death by his sister Sue E. Eaton.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Shirley R. Evans, three daughters: Cynthia E. McClenney of Windsor, Pamela Evans of Eure, NC, and Wendy A. Funk of Stafford, VA, and one son David W. Evans of Suffolk. Three sisters: Frances Lassiter of Eure, NC, Grace Stafford of Ivor, VA and Jane Spivey of Sunbury, NC, and one brother Willie Evans of Suffolk, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
McCoy retired after 30 years of service as a Lieutenant for the Suffolk Fire Department. He had many talents and loved working with wood, building many fine pieces of furniture. He was also mechanically inclined and an avid fisherman. Most of all he loved his family and the Lord. McCoy was a kind and generous person who loved helping others and will truly be missed by his family and friends.
The funeral service will be held Monday, August 25, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA by Rev. Stewart McCarter and Pastor Allen Lancaster. Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery with fireman's rites. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 24, 2008, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
