Iris S. Whitley, 95, passed away January 15, 2020.  She was born in Gates County, NC the daughter of the late Lowery Jackson Spivey and Fannie Stallings Spivey.  She was predeceased by her husband, Welton Roger Whitley, Sr.; son, Alvin Whitley; and son-in-law, Steve Barnes.  Iris retired after 40 years from Colonial Stores.  She was a member of First Baptist Church Suffolk, VA.

Iris is survived by her daughter, Barbara Whitley Barnes; sons and daughters-in-law, W. Roger Whitley, Jr. and Kay Whitley, and John Ray Whitley and Judy Whitley, Syble Whitley; grandchildren and their spouses, Jason David Barnes (Maria), Cory Alan Barnes (Jessica), and numerous other grandchildren; great grandchildren, Logan, Leland, and Kaylynn Barnes, and numerous other great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd Spivey (Jean); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Dr. David Edgell officiating.  Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery.  Friends may join the family other times at the residence of Barbara Barnes.  Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 237 N.
