Hurley "Wayne" Knight passed away in his sleep, in the early hours of Monday, 20 April 2015; after a long and hard battle with COPD. He had just enjoyed his 71st birthday party, exactly two weeks earlier, on Monday, 6 April. Wayne was the son of Nansemond County Sheriff Jimmy C. Knight Jr. and Lucille Baines Knight of Suffolk, VA. He was predeceased by his siblings were Jimmy Knight III, Virtley Bunch and Douglas Knight.

He is survived by his brother; Lt Col Billy "Keith" (BK) Knight (Retired USAF) of Roseville, CA.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Liberty Spring Christian Church at 2 PM. The viewing will be prior to the service at the church from 1-2 PM. A reception in the church annex will be held immediately following the funeral where everyone can fellowship together and enjoy Wayne's life and his many life stories. Burial will be private at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to Parr Funeral Home or donations made to Liberty Spring Ruritan Club on Wayne's behalf.
