Hope Thompson Leland's Obituary
Hope Thompson Leland, 69, of Windsor, VA, formerly of Suffolk, went home to be with the Lord on January 20, 2022. She was predeceased by her parents, Wilbur Lafayette Thompson, Jr. and Betty Rogers Thompson; daughter, Katherine Thompson Leland; and sibling, Bruce Wayne Thompson. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 31 years, Glenn J. Leland; son, Jay Matthew Leland; brother, Wilbur (Bur) L. Thompson; sister, Jane T. Brown; beloved step children, Pamela Trevathan (William) and James Leland; grandchildren, Finley Grace Trevathan and Emerson Marie Trevathan; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Hope was a 1970 graduate of Suffolk High School. She attended Virginia Wesleyan College and Kee Business College. She was employed by Coastal Pest Control for 13 years. Prior to that she worked at Union Finance for 25 years. Hope was a long-standing member of Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church and was well known for her gentle spirit, quick wit and infectious laugh. She enjoyed cross stitching, and gifted those closest to her, which will be treasured for many years. She also was an avid reader and loved planning trips, especially trips to the beach.
A memorial service for Hope, her mother and brother, who passed away on Christmas and Christmas Eve, will be held at Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church, 3488 Godwin Blvd, Suffolk, VA 23434 on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial donations be made to The Gideons International, Smithfield Camp, P.O. Box 274, Smithfield, VA 23431. Post condolences on
