Homer Lee Powell, age 46, died June 24, 2006. Homer was a native of Nansemond County, Virginia. He was a graduate of Forest Glen High School and a member of Bethlehem Christian Church. He was a machine cleaner for 18 years at Lipton Tea Co. Homer was the son of the late Sydney W. Powell, Jr. and was predeceased by his sister Sylvia Powell Fowler.

Homer is survived by his wife of 22 years, Virginia "Ginny" Robertson Powell; sons Jerry Lee Powell and wife Morgan of Franklin and Christopher Lee Powell of Suffolk; his mother, Edith Hunter Powell of Suffolk; a grandson Austin Shane Byrd of Suffolk; a brother George T. "Tommy" Powell and wife Linda of Suffolk; 3 nieces, 2 nephews and 2 great nephews.

Friends may join the family Monday night at Bethlehem Christian Church in Graham Hall
from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. for a time of Visitation and other times at the home. The funeral will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Christian Church with Rev. Jonathan D. Palmer officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
