Herberteen Horton Riddick, 84, passed away November 24, 2012. She was born in Gates County, NC the daughter of the late Nannie Star Umphlette Horton and Eddie Boyd Horton. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Bennie Lee Riddick, Jr. and her siblings, Edward Horton, Shirley Horton, Helen Mitchell, and Robert Herman Horton. She retired from the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company in Suffolk, VA and the Better Beginnings Daycare in Kitty Hawk, NC. She was a member of Soundside Missionary Baptist Church in Columbia, NC where she was also a member of the Adult Women's Sunday School Class and the W.M.U. She was also a member of the Suffolk Women of the Moose Chapter #1315 where she was a Star Recorder.

Herberteen is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn R. and Jimmie Beale of Kill Devil Hills, NC, Faye R. and Otis Queen of Columbia, NC; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky Lee and Bunny Riddick of Suffolk, VA; 6 grandchildren, Michelle Johnson, Heather Nobles, Kelly Johnson, Angela Jones, Ray Copeland, and Travis Copeland; 10 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.

A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA with Dr. Jeff Crabtree officiating. A time of visitation will follow the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence of Ricky L. Riddick, 1221 Parker Dr., Suffolk, VA and Michelle B. Johnson, 825 Shadowberry Crest, Chesapeake, VA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Soundside Missionary Baptist Church, 177 Riverneck Rd. Columbia, NC 27925.
