Mary Helen Powell Saunders, 93, passed away July 26, 2021.  She was born in Isle of Wight County, Virginia the daughter of the late Mills Joseph Powell and Mary Lizzy Turner Powell.  She was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Alice Saunders and by 8 siblings.  Helen worked and trained students in the kitchen at the Zuni Presbyterian Training Center.  She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church where she actively served for many years.

Helen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Terry Saunders; grandchildren, Chris Saunders, Tobey Griffin (Tony), and Joe Saunders; great grandchildren, Ian, Tori, Lilly, and Bella; sister, Betty Sue Pippins (Roy); brothers, Charles Powell (Cheryl) and Ed Powell (Carolyn); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church with Rev. Peter T. Atkinson officiating.  Burial will be private at Antioch Church Cemetery.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
