Helen Mary Heffernan Greene, 91, passed away June 12, 2021. She was born July 15, 1929, in Lincoln, Rhode Island, the daughter of the late Frederick Walter and Helen Heffernan. She was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Richard "Dick" Louis Greene; her brother, Charles Frederick Heffernan.

She lived in Clayton, NY through her childhood until she married. In 1970, her family moved to Florida and lived there until 2019 when she moved to Virginia to be close to her son and family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and loved being a grandmother and great grandmother. Helen loved playing the piano and taught lessons, singing (with Sweet Adeline's) painting, writing poetry, and watching old movies.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Susan Wells, of Morganton, NC, son, Gregory M. Greene, wife, (Cathy) of Suffolk, VA, grandchildren, Megan Nester (Brandon), Matthew Greene (Fiance' Kristin),     Charles Wells, and Shannon Wells, and 5 great grandchildren, brothers, Robert Stuart Heffernan, Alan Heffernan (Kathy), sister-in-law, Reba Heffernan and numerous nieces and nephews, and special couple who she loved as her own children, Larry and Jane Rowan.

A memorial service will be held, Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at St Mary's of the Presentation Catholic Church, 202 S. Broad St. Suffolk, VA  23434 with Father Emmanuel Mensah officiating. A private burial will be in Florida.
