Harvey Dean Sightler, 88, passed away March 16, 2021.  He was born in South Carolina the son of the late Hughey Sightler and Susie Cartin Sightler.  He was predeceased by his son, Ronnie Sightler, Sr.; and siblings, Rachel Lucas, Betty Atkins, Edna Hornok, Wilbur, Edward, and Stanley Sightler.  Harvey was a United States Marine Corps veteran having served during the Korean War.  He later went on to own and operate his own trucking company, Sightler Trucking.  He was a member of Western Branch Baptist Church.  He served a troop leader for the boy scouts and in his free time he loved fishing and gardening.

Harvey is survived by his wife of 67 years, Kathren L. Sightler; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie Sightler Phillips (Eddie); daughter-in-law, Cathy Kirk; grandchildren and their spouses, Ronnie D. Sightler, Jr. (Cassie), Donnie Sightler (Lindsay); great grandchildren, Ronnie D. Sightler, III, Avalynn, Gillian, and Greyson Sightler; sisters, Georgia Barrett, Hazel Byrum, and Peggy Fegre; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Monday, March 22, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Tim Rawls officiating.  Friends may join the family for a time of visitation with limited gathering and social distancing on Sunday from 2-3 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory.  Memorial donations may be made to Western Branch Baptist Church.  The family would like to give special thanks to Sentara Hospice Services for their excellent care and support they gave, especially, LaTanya Jones.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
