Harry Leonard "Slim" Parker, 85, of Portsmouth, VA passed away on June 15, 2013. A native of Portsmouth, Virginia, he was predeceased by his parents Herman H. and Alice Davis Parker and a son Blaine Chapellear. Slim was formerly a salesman with Procter and Gamble. He was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran and a player on the Class of 1947 Wilson High School undefeated football team. Slim attended Franklin Congregational Christian Church. Banjo Slim played the Banjo at Shakey's pizza on Airline Blvd. for many years.
Harry is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law; Kelly D. and Nancy Parker of Suffolk and Jeb L. and Barbara Parker of Fairfax; Step-Daughter Sharon Duke of Portsmouth and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, officiated by Rev. James H. Hyatt, Jr. Followed by visitation at the funeral home. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com
