Harry Joe Hendrix, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2011 with his
family by his side. Born May 24,1931 in Laurel County, Kentucky to the late DeCorsie and Myrtle Yaden Hendrix. Joe graduated from Bush High school, followed by a thirty year career in the U. S.
Navy. After retiring from the Navy, he continued his education,
graduating from St. Leo's College with a bachelors degree, and
continued on to a second career, retiring from civil service as a
senior systems analyst computer programmer. He was an Avid Golfer, belonging to the South of James senior golfers, loved to work in his garden and walking with his dog "black jack". He attended Mill Swamp
Baptist Church.
Survived by his wife of 56 years Betty Jo Hendrix, his children Edward J. Hendrix (Mary), Kimberly MacKinnon(Michael), Gerald Scott Hendrix,Christopher D. Hendrix(Sherrie Lynn), and Susan Tuck (Ranger).
Thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His sisters Lucy Mae Heeringa, of Yuma, Arizona and Louise Wilson, of London, Kentucky; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his parents and two brother Jack Hendrix and Ed Hendrix.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 23 in Mill Swamp
Baptist Church at 11 o'clock a.m., with burial to follow in the church
cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday night from
6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers the family
request donations be made to the Mill Swamp Baptist Church Building
