Harry James Allen, 77, passed away November 25, 2024.  He was born in Matewan, WV the son of the late Harry Allen, Jr. and Virginia Simpkins Allen.  He was predeceased by his brother, Kash Allen.  Harry retired after 43 years from Traffic Engineering at the Virginia Department of Transportation.  He was a former member of Compassion Church.  Harry was the "Best Pops" to his grandsons.  In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards on Tuesday nights with family and friends.  Harry was a devout Christian, the best husband and father we could ever ask for.  He loved everyone and never complained about life's problems.

Harry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rita Cisco Allen; daughter, Tracy Allen Ivester (Nick); grandchildren, Nathan B. Carter and Seth J. Carter; sister, Pamela K. Allen; brothers, Jerry Allen (Connie), Terry W. Allen (Rachel); sister-in-law, Lisa C. Scott (Phillip); nieces, Angela New, Sheila Tinkham, Karen Gaskins; cousins, Randall Cox, Alice Harmon, and Wynona White; former son-in-law, Brandon Carter.

A funeral service will be held Friday, November 29, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Tim Rawls officiating.  Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery.  Friends may join the family for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
