Harold D. Barkalow, Sr., 95, of Suffolk, passed away August 7, 2012. He born in Elizabeth, NJ to the late Fredrick S. and Mary L. Barkalow. Harold was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Alma E. Barkalow, and son, Arthur D. Barkalow. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Harold worked as a heavy equipment operator for Whit Williams Inc.

Harold is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Marie B. and Mike Purser of Vanceboro, NC, Kathleen B. and Frank J. Parr, Sr. of Suffolk, VA, and Debora B. Pippins of Ahoskie, NC; sons and daughters-in-law, Doug C. Barkalow of IA, Harold D. and Julie Barkalow, Jr. of Conway, NH, Rodney L. Barkalow of New Orleans, LA, and Shirley Barkalow of Creamridge, NJ; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a special thanks to his loving caregivers, grandsons, Frank J. Parr, Jr. and Philip S. Parr, granddaughter, Melissa Pippins, and nurse Beverly White.

A graveside service will be held Friday, August 10, 2012, at 12 p.m., at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Rd. Suffolk, VA 23434, with Rev. Roger Johnson officiating. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
