Guy Alton "Pookie" Duke, Sr. 76 passed away December 3, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of Nansemond Co., VA. He was the son of the late George A. and Evelyn Babb Duke and predeceased by sons Roger Chipman, Samuel R. Duke, Guy A. Duke, Jr. and brothers Chester Ray and Hilton Lee. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Guy retired after 43 years as owner and operator of Guy Duke Roofing and Guttering of All Kinds. His love of family, fishing, gardening, martin birds and all of nature is well known.

Guy is survived by his wife of 56 years Mary E. Duke, daughter and son-in-law Lucille D. and Eddie V. Humphrey; sons and daughters-in-law Glen D. and Janet E. Chipman and John C. and Linda C. Duke all of Suffolk; sister Brenda Jenkins; brothers David and Leslie Duke ; 10 Grandchildren, 16 Great-grandchildren and 2 Great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Parr Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Kenneth Bunch officiating. Burial will be in Cypress Chapel Christian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday night from 6-8p.m. and other times at the residence.
