Obituary

Grace Burns Meacham, 93, of Suffolk, died Saturday, Oct 8, 2016 in Obici Hospital. A native of Crittenden, AR., she was a daughter of the late Clifton Curtis Burns and Annie Elizabeth (Bacot) Burns. She was predeceased by two children, Anne M. Epps and David L. Meacham; grandson, Curt Meacham; granddaughter, Lisa Johnson; and siblings, Lowrey, Julia, Edwin, Curtis, and Gladys.

She was a member of First Baptist Church. She retired from General Electric and then a prominent figure with the church for many years as well as a longtime resident of the Kilby Shores neighborhood.

Survivors include a son, Curtis Meacham and wife, Charlotte of Suffolk; a sister Ann Bayley of Jackson, MS.; seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and great, great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Charles Thompson officiating . Interment will be private in Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. Friends may join family for a visitation Tuesday night from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 237 N. Main St., Suffolk, VA 23434. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.

A special thank you, to her Autumn Care Nursing Home Family, who tended to her every need. Grace/Grandma/MawMaw will be missed by many, but especially by her granddaughter Beth Chabot, who spent countless time together.
