Gordon R. McMahon, 73, of Suffolk, VA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 24, 2025, at Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. Born on January 16, 1952, Gordon was a cherished member of his community and proudly served in the US Army at Fort Bliss, TX. Following his military service, he worked for Liberty Steel and dedicated 32 years to working at the NNS Shipyard in Shop #02.
Gordon's warmth and kindness were felt by all who knew him, and his presence will be deeply missed. He was predeceased by his parents, Irene and Charles Hooker, and Harold McMahon, as well as his two brothers, Glen and Gary McMahon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Barbara A. McMahon; son, Charles R. McMahon; and daughter and son-in-law, Linda M. and Marc Hughes. Gordon was a proud Pops to his two grandchildren, Chad and Chloe Hughes, and he cherished his many beloved grandanimals. Additionally, he is survived by his three brothers, Gralan, Greg, and Gavin Hooker, along with Four sisters-in-law, Jean McMahon, Lily McMahon, Amy Hooker, and Mary West (Frank West).
Gordon's funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Friday, May 30, 2025 at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Dr. Barry Cole officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm, Thursday, May 29, 2025 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be offered on parrfuneralhome.com.
