Gloria Kaye Mitchell Barnette, 72, of Windsor, VA passed away on July 19, 2014. She was born in Suffolk, VA, the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Delta West Mitchell. Gloria is predeceased by her husband, Louie "Doug" Barnette; sister, Sylvia Anne Schlaffer; and daughter, Karen Christina Barnette.

Gloria is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elisa and Tim Simmons; son and daughter-in-law, Leslie and Lisa Barnette; four grandchildren, Victoria, Kristina, Geoffery and Karalyn; one great grandchild, Shaylyn; sisters and brothers-in-law, Angeline and Peter Hofman, Jean and Emory Saghy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 11:00 am at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA, 23434 with Pastor Tim Simmons, Lt. Col. Peter Hofman and Angeline Hofman officiating. Interment will follow at Nansemond Suffolk Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the residence.
