Obituary

Glenda Bracey Carr, age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 6, 2026, in Suffolk, Virginia. Born on June 28, 1944, in Windsor, Virginia, she was the cherished daughter of the late Clyde Alfred Bracey and Gladys Grant Bracey.

Glenda was the youngest of thirteen children and a graduate of Windsor High School. She was a longtime devoted member of Colosse Baptist Church, where her faith and fellowship were central to her life.

After graduation, Glenda married the love of her life, John T. Carr, with whom she shared 48 wonderful years of marriage until his passing. She is also predeceased by her brothers, C.A., Robert, Tyrone, William Steele, and Benjamin Bracey; sisters, Francis Gray, Evelyn Scott, Leona Jones, Betty Ann Richardson, Barbara Dean Redd, and infant Judith.

She leaves behind her loving daughter, Stephanie (Brian); her treasured grandchildren, Johnna and Coleman; her sister, Janice Scott; sisters-in-law, Joyce Bracey and Helen Holland; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special friend, Buddy Jones.

Glenda will be remembered as a lifelong optimist, always offering a warm smile and a kind word. She had a gift for making connections and truly never met a stranger. Despite living with Multiple Sclerosis for over 40 years, her strength, resilience, and positive spirit inspired everyone who knew her. She deeply treasured time with her family, found joy in playing bridge, and her grandchildren were the true light of her life.

Services to honor Glenda's life will be held on Thursday, June 11, at 2 p.m. at Colosse Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Martin Chappell and Rev. Tim Webb. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Windsor Volunteer Fire Department and the Windsor Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com. Glenda's spirit, kindness, and love will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
