Gladys Worrell Spivey, 83, of Suffolk, VA passed away on July 22, 2011. A native of Holland, VA she was the daughter of the late Samuel James Worrell and Mary Jane Holland Worrell. She was also predeceased by her husband Malvern Pitman Spivey; sisters, Willie Mae Blythe and Polly Jane Worrell; brothers, Elmo, Clinton, Linwood, Roy and S. Jimmie Worrell. Gladys retired from Obici Hospital after 35 years as a nurse anesthetist. She later worked part-time for the Suffolk Health Department. She was a member of First Baptist Church, a Cub Scout Leader, and a member of the Nansemond County Home Demonstration Club.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judith S. and Thomas Hodges; her son and daughter in-law G. Alan and Jane Spivey; grandchildren, Megan, Chelsea and Faith Hodges and Allison Spivey; sisters, Lucille Judkins, Nell Williams, Mary Edith Carter and sister-in-law Inez Story Worrell.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, with Dr. Donald Solomon officiating.
