While his tools may have come to a rest, Gilbert Laureano Sr., affectionately known as: "Gil", "Dad", "Papa G", or "Mr. G", peacefully passed away on November 9, 2023, at the age of 64 at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia surround by love with his closest family and friends at his side.
He was born on August 5, 1959, in The Bronx, New York. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, husband, and friend.
Gilbert was a true legend working as a Master Plumber for East Coast Plumbing and Heating. His skills were renowned, and his work ethic unmatched. Known as Mr. Fix-It, he could plumb a whole house, an apartment complex, or fix whatever was wrong, a true jack of all trades. So skilled he could do so with one hand tied behind his back. If you had a plumbing problem, Gilbert had the answer as fast as you were explaining it to him.
Off the stage, he loved to rev up his engines and dive into thrilling projects. Whether it was bikes, cars, or trucks, he'd roll up his sleeves and get down to business. Always doing it with a twinkle in his eye, for each generation; his daughter, his sons, and more recently his grandkids in tow.
Gilbert's true superpower was his ability to make everyone feel like family. He had a heart of gold and was always ready to be a helping hand to anyone who asked. He didn't just know how to fix things; he took pride in being a mentor and teacher to his children, stepchildren, nephews, and just anyone who was lucky enough to work alongside him. His playful spirit and witty banter made him the life of the party, and his love knew no bounds.
Gilbert leaves behind his loving wife, Patricia Lynn Laureano. He is survived by his brothers: Jose Aponte and his wife Carmen Rivera and Albert Laureano and his wife Angela Hernandez. He is also survived by his children: Lissette Laureano and her husband Aaron, Gilbert Laureano Jr. and his wife Mikayla, Eric Laureano-House and his wife Makayla Parrish, as well as Jose-Juan Laureano. He also leaves behind his stepchildren: Patrick Davis and his wife Danielle, Joseph Davis and his wife Julia, Krystal and Michelle Bradshaw, as well as Nicole Howell and Julian Simmons. Gilbert's legacy continues to flow through his 22 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gilbert now embarks on his next adventure, to reunite with his mother, Francisca Laureano, and his brothers Danny Otero, Juan Aponte, and Edwin Laureano.
