Geraldine "Gerry" DeBerry Martin, was home in the arms of her family when she went to be with the Lord on September 14, 2016. Gerry was born in Halifax Co, NC to the late Marvin Sr. and Elsie Keeter DeBerry. She is predeceased also by the love of her life for over 50 years, her devoted husband, James "Jim" Kenneth Martin, Sr. and her brother, Marvin, Jr.

Gerry loved her family and friends deeply and without limits. She was a loving and caring wife, Mama and Grammy. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. She also shared that love with young children as a teacher's aide with the Suffolk school system. Gerry was well known for her sharp wit, warm sense of humor, caring nature, and loving friendship. She leaves wonderful memories to be cherished by her daughter, Dawn Darden (Rick) and three sons, James Kenneth Martin, Jr. (Vicki), Robert Blayne Martin (Tammy), Richard Wayne Martin (Linda); four precious grandchildren, Neal, Ashley, Will and Natalie; sister by marriage, Betty Martin; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

A graveside service will be conducted in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk, VA on September 16, 2016 at 11 am with Chaplain C.L. Davis officiating. The family extends their deep appreciation and gratitude to her caregivers, Vanessa Cahoon, Tracy Long, Brittany Hill, Angel Watson and Tonya Everett for their endless kindness and devotion.
