Obituary

George Allen Warner, 79, passed away peacefully in his sleep May 5, 2014. He was born in Edenton, NC the son of the late Pelege J. and Bertie M. Warner. He was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War and was wounded in battle. He was an excellent marksman during his time in service. George later went on to work as a meat cutter and recently as a Sam's Club greeter. George was active in sports including softball, bowling, and fishing. He was a former member of the Portsmouth Moose Lodge # 898.

George is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann Marie Warner; daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn Harper and Bill Wright, Georgette and Dean Bridger; sons and daughter-in-law, David and Paula Warner, and Kevin Warner; grandchildren, LeAnna, Bradley, Aaron, Andrew, Zachary, Timothy, Andrea, Wesley, Amanda, Dean, Jr. and wife Cassie, and Kasey; great grandchildren, Bryan, Christopher, June, Mason, Keirsten, and Owen; brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Tootsie Warner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA with Rev. David Phillips officiating. Friends may join the family Friday night for a time of visitation from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A private burial with military honors will be held at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Veteran Cemetery.
