George McArthur "Mac" Pittman, Sr., 67, of Corapeake, NC, passed away on February 20, 2010 . A native of Kenly, NC he was the son of the late Fletcher and Gertrude Stancil Pittman. George was a retired Master Shipbuilder and General Foreman of the crane rigging and tool room at Newport News Shipbuilding with 42 years of service. He was presently farming with G.P. Kittrell's & Son in Corapeake. He was a member of Eureka Baptist Church and served as a Deacon. George was a member of Baptist men, Suffolk Moose Lodge #141, Corapeake Ruritan Club, Gates County Chamber of Commerce and the Kenly hunt club.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Debbie Moore Pittman of Corapeake, NC; two sons and daughters -in-law George M. Pittman, Jr. and Sandy of Gatesville, NC and Christopher R. and Jodie Pittman of Yorktown, VA.; four grandchildren, Amanda Wiggins, Parker Pittman, George M. "A.J." Pittman, III and Ramsie Pittman.; two sisters and brothers-in-law Irene and Ed Wallace of Newport News, VA. and Anne and James Viverette of Wilson, NC; brother and sister-in-law Bill and Jackie Pittman of Raleigh, NC. and his beloved cats Buttons, Charlie and Katie.

A funeral service will be held in Eureka Baptist Church Corapeake, NC on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mickey Willard officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery. Friends may join the family at the Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA on Monday, February 22, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for a time of visitation and other times at the residence.
