George Oliver Cobb, 72, passed away June 26, 2015. He was born in Ahoskie, NC the son of the late Zeb Vance Cobb and Lillian Eve Brown Cobb. He was predeceased by his daughter, Laura Kay "Sissy" Barnes; sister, Ernestine Leggett; and brother, Harvey Cobb. He worked as a Locomotive engineer for Norfolk Southern Railroad and retired after 32 years.

George is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jean Cole Cobb; son and daughter-in-law, Brian K. and Jodi Cobb; son-in-law Ronnie Barnes; grandchildren, Sallie Barnes, Josh Barnes, James Cobb, Matt Grady, Tucker Carter, and Sydney Sutton and the numerous other children who he loved as his own; 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Iris Pierce, Dorothy Baker, Linda Connolly; brothers, Earl, Will, Rob, Henry, and Leslie Cobb; special "adopted" daughter and family, Pam, Buck, Ashlyn, and Courtney Leary.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Buck Leary and Pastor Mike Harrington officiating. Entombment will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family Monday night from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
