Gene Fulton Herring, 70, of Newport News, passed away on February 18, 2025. Gene was the son of the late Edgar Herring and Amanda Jones White.

Gene was a pipe fitter at Warwick Mechanical Group.

In addition to his parents, Gene's wife Rachel Morgan Herring and siblings, Edgar, Don and Susan Herring precede him in death. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Melissa Dent, Gene Wood (Sarah) and Gabriel Herring (Emma). Grandchildren, Noelle (Orie), Brooke, Dallas, Madison, Emmitt, Gabriel Jr., Elissa, Ayden and Mylah and Great-grandchildren, Ezra, Kinsley and Rowan.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home in Suffolk, Virginia with interment following at Holly Lawn Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia.
