Gary E. Owens, 67, passed away on May 31, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born in Portsmouth, VA the son of the late Geraldine and Thurman Owens.

Gary retired from Dominion Power as an Electrician.  He was an avid golfer, accomplished fisherman and hunter.  He was a member of the Cypress Creek Golf Club and a member of the Dismal Swamp Rangers where he enjoyed individual and group competition shooting.  He served as an active duty member to the United States Marine Corp.  Gary was strong in his faith and a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Smithfield.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years , Charlotte; two sons, Clint Owens and Travis Howell (Danielle); two grandchildren, Grace and Chayden.  He is also survived by his sister, Gina Griffin (Butch); and numerous nieces and nephews; family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Zachary Ethridge officiating.
