Obituary

Gary Paul Chaney, 78, passed away March 11, 2024.  He was born in New London, CT the son of the late Wilford Bradford Chaney and Katharine Lear Chaney.  Gary was a United States Army veteran having served during Vietnam.  He later went on to work as a Shipfitter Foreman and retired from General Dynamics Electric Boat Division.  After retirement Gary worked for Home Instead right up until he got sick.  Gary was passionate about golf.  His love for the game led him to serve as the Golf Professional at Pequot Golf Course in Stonington, CT where he also helped coach the Special Olympics.  He was an active member of the Suffolk Golf Course and enjoyed golf trips with his brothers in his free time.

Gary is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Jo Chaney; children, Justin, Nathan, Jenna, and Neil Chaney; grandchildren, Patrick, Hayden, Bentley, Jarrad Jr., Scarlett, and Clyde; brothers, Brad and Ronnie Chaney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held Monday, March 18, 2024 at 6 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Fr. Rogelio "Ongen" Largoza officiating.  Friends may join the family for at time of visitation prior to the service from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial with military honors will be private at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com .
