Gardner Oscar Hewitt, 66, of Suffolk passed away on November 24, 2010. A native of Norfolk, VA he was the son of the late Gardner Hewitt and Sadie Virginia Cartwright Hewitt and also predeceased by a sister, Rosa Lee. He was a Marine Machinist at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and a veteran of the U. S. Navy.

He is survived by this daughters and sons-in-law: Christina and John Pennington of Goose Creek, SC; Susie and Paul Hill of Suffolk and Elizabeth and Kevin Shirley of Greenville, NC; five grandchildren; two sisters, Sally and Margaret and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service with military honors will be held Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
