Franklin Steele Turner Sr, 83, passed away on January 28, 2023. He was born in Isle of Wight Co, VA to the late Margaret Hatfield and Fleetwood Mckinley Turner Sr. He is also predeceased by his brother, William "Peter" Turner. He worked and retired from the Newport News Shipbuilding as a pipe insulator. He was also heavily involved with the Windsor Volunteer Rescue Squad from 1977 until 1994. He was squad captain from 1983 until 1993, broke ground for the newest rescue squad building, and achieved Lifetime Member of Virginia Rescue Squad.

Franklin is survived by his sons, Franklin S. Turner Jr. (Maria), Robert Adolphus Turner, and David M. Turner (Linda); grandsons, Justin, Miguel, and Isaac Turner; sisters, Eleanor Wilkins (Fred) and Jackie Redd (Lynn); brothers, Carroll Turner (Jane) and Fleetwood Turner Jr; sister in law, Janet Turner; and caretaker, Carolyn Bracy.

Franklin's funeral service will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Kent Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery in Suffolk, VA.
