Franklin D. DeJarnette, 84, born in Halifax County, VA, passed away, November 23, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Blanche G. and Richard P. DeJarnette. Frank was predeceased by two sisters, Beatrice D. Twine and Barbara D. Holland, and three brothers, Jennings B. DeJarnette, A.T. DeJarnette and Waverly E. DeJarnette. He was a member of West End Baptist Church, the Board of Deacons and the Men's Fellowship Class. Frank was elected Deacon Emeritus in 2012. He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after more than 37 years of service.
Frank is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anita M. DeJarnette; daughter, Sharon D. Boyette (Benjamin R.); son, Kenneth A. DeJarnette (Tammi A.); grandchildren, Brennan Boyette, Christian DeJarnette (Kaci), Brittany Boyette, Danielle DeJarnette; great grandchildren, Heavan and Brennan Boyette, Jr.; sister, Mildred D. Piland; sisters-in-law, Catherine C. DeJarnette, Shirley Murray, Louise T. DeJarnette; brother-in-law, Paul "Cotton" Holland and numerous special nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will he held Saturday, November 26 at 2:00 pm at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA, 23434 with visitation from 1-2 pm, prior to the service with Dr. Robert Pipkin officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to West End Baptist Church, 105 St. James Ave., Suffolk, VA, 23434.
