Frankie Lee Johnson, 67, passed away January 17, 2026. He was born in Nansemond County, VA the son of the late Ryland F. Johnson, Jr. and Donna R. Marino. Frankie was predeceased by his children, April Danielle Johnson and Brian Owen Hedgepeth; and grandson, Cody Dalton Quimby. Frankie retired as the Technical Training and Development Supervisor for Electric Motor & Contracting. He attended Towne South Church of Christ. He was the sound engineer for the Island Boy Band for 25 years. Frankie played football at Oscar Smith Highschool. Some of his favorite pastimes were softball, fishing, and intense kick boxing. He loved woodworking and traveling to Key West and vacations in the Smoky Mountains in Pigeon Forge, TN. He was also a member of Duck's Unlimited.
Frankie is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbiera Drew Johnson; daughter, Michelle Johnson (John); grandchildren, Dylan E. Quimby, Marina Q. Gordon (Eddie), and Jacob C. Quimby; uncle, Curtis Ed Lilley (Jane) and their son, Brandon Lilley. Frankie will also be missed by his adoring Frenchie, Alice Rose.
A funeral service will be Sunday, January 25, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Tim Rawls officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Saturday afternoon from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home. There is a peace lily allergy in the family so they respectfully request no peace lilies.
