Frank Mathews, Jr, a servant of our most high God, was called home on Monday, August 22, 2016. Frank lost his life suffering an apparent heart attack resulting in a single car accident on Hwy 460. Born in Richmond, Virginia on November 18, 1953, Frank grew up in Richmond, moving to Virginia Beach in 1972.
A loving husband of 41 years to his high school sweetheart, Dawn Mathews, he is survived by two sons, Frank Mathews, III and his wife, LeeAnne Mathews and Chad Mathews and partner, Matthew Ruger ; 5 grandchildren, Layla, Lexys, Livian, London and Skylar; a brother, Mike Mathews, sisters, Linda Tipton, Sharon Smith., Dana Rogers and Cheryl Rogers; mother in law, Dorothy F. Lee, brother in law, Harry H. Ryals, sister in law, Debra F. Ochsner and partner, Ronald L. Heath, Jr.; nieces, Nicole Ochsner, Brittany Ochsner and Francis Whitworth; nephew, James Hargrave; and significant family member, Corey Carter.
Frank was that rare person who never met a stranger. In addition to being a loving daddy and granddaddy, he was a treasured friend to everyone who knew him. A born entrepreneur, he founded Mathews Chimney Sweep; Professional Steam Cleaning; and with his wife, established Commercial Seeding, Inc. Known for his generous spirit, honest word and kind heart, Frank was respected and loved by all who knew him personally and professionally. Frank was a family man who devoted his life to his wife, children and grandchildren. Frank worked hard, played hard and loved the Lord his God with all his heart. All who knew Frank will describe him as ALWAYS having a smile on his face and a willingness to help others. Supportive, generous, loving, kind, patient, and devoted Christian, Frank will be forever loved and missed by all who knew him. Heaven received a special angel on August 22, 2016. Rest in peace Frank. We love you and miss you and our only comfort is found in knowing that you are in the arms of Jesus watching over us until we see each other again.
A Celebration of Frank's Life will be held Friday, August 26, 2016 at 7 p.m. at Covenant Community Church, 3504 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA 23434. All are welcome to join the family for a time of visitation prior to the service at the church beginning at 6:15 p.m. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
