Frances Marie Oliver Holland, 88, formerly of Suffolk, died Sunday, May 9, 2010 in Chesapeake Health Care.

Mrs. Holland was born in Nansemond County and was the daughter of the late Harvey and Fannie Woodard Oliver. She was the widow of Shem Julius Holland, Sr., to whom she was married for 51 years.

She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Suffolk.

Survivors include her 3 children, Shem Julius Holland, Jr. and James Ryland "Buddy" Holland (Marsha), both of Suffolk, and Antionette H. Johnson (Richard) of Chesapeake; 2 grandchildren, Julie J. Holland Oakley of Poquoson and Melissa M. Gibson (Thom) of Mathews; 4 great grandchildren, Chelsea D. Oakley and Malin R. Oakley of Poquoson, Zachary A. Gibson and Cora G. Gibson of Mathews; her brother-in-law, Morris Holland of Suffolk.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Liberty Spring Christian Church Cemetery with Rev. Allen Lancaster officiating. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation on Tuesday night from 7-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk.

The family suggest that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Chesapeake Fire Department, Station 14, 304 Albemarle Dr., Chesapeake, VA 23322.
