Evelyn Hope Turner Whitehead, 81, passed away August 27, 2024.  She was born in Southampton County, VA the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Turner and Dorothy Elizabeth Butler Ellis.  She was predeceased by her daughter, Kimberly Carter; and siblings, Vivian Griggs, Brenda Boyce, Ann Tew, and Thomas Turner.  Evelyn ran several restaurants, hair salons, and convenience stores throughout her life and retired as the owner and operator of New Hope Mini Market in Carrsville.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Pamela C. Briggs (Joseph "Joey"); son, Danny R. Carter; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; siblings and their spouses, Wanda Rountree (Steve), David Turner (Ann), Roland Griggs, Tommy Boyce, Bessie Stow, and Harvey Tew; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating.  Friends may join the family for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service from 1-2 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Suffolk Humane Society.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
