Obituary

Esther Ruth "Midge" Rodgers Nichols of Suffolk, Virginia passed away on September 13, 2007. She was the daughter of the late James Hughes Rodgers and Melvinia E. Bryant. Midge was a member and Prayer and Care Team Leader of Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church, a member of the Bereans Sunday School class, a member of the Alpha Lambda Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Suffolk Red Hatters, a member of the Southside Baptist Church Senior Citizen Joy Group and annual participant in the Relay for Life. She was a Fire Department Dispatcher for the City of Suffolk.

She is survived by her husband, Battalion Chief, W. "Tom" Nichols of Suffolk;sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Scott Asbell, Jr. and Linda L. Asbell of Suffolk,
and Clint Coleman Asbell and Wendy Asbell of Mathews, VA; two step-sons and step daughters-in-law, Tommy and Maria Nichols and Bobby and Michelle Nichols; grandchildren, Scott and Jenn Asbell, Brandon, Amanda, Joshua, Caleb, Bethany, Emily Joy Asbell, Claire Nichols, Adam, Nicole, Priscilla, Breanna, Bobby and Sarah Nichols; sisters, Thelma Burcham, Nell Rodgers, Rachel Slate and husband Kenneth; brothers, Jimmie Rodgers and Clyde Rodgers and her beloved dog "Sweetie."

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 17, 2007, at Westminister Reformed Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. David Dickson officiating. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.

Friends may join the family on Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk for a time of visitation and other times at the residence.
