Emmaleen Quayle
Stapleton
August 20, 1933 – July 28, 2024
Emmaleen Quayle Stapleton, 90, passed away July 28, 2024. She was born in Montrose, Colorado the daughter of the late Daniel Quayle and Myrtle Maudie Stafford Quayle. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Richard Eugene Stapleton; her son, Richard E. Stapleton, Jr. and brother, Charles Quayle. Emmaleen retired from the accounting department at Exxon Mobile, and Tidewater Prosthetic Center's payables department. She faithfully watched the 700 Club, Joyce Meyers, Franklin Graham and Robert Schuller.
Emmaleen is survived by her children and their spouses, Randy Eugene Stapleton (Martha), Mark E. Stapleton (Sandy), Ricky Stapleton (Melinda), Cheryl Lynn Rice (Chad); and Lori Stapleton; grandchildren, Terry Stapleton (Brandy), Tina Stapleton, Jennifer Stapleton (Warren), Josh Stapleton (Dara), Kerri Parsons (Jeff), Richard Stapleton (Heather), Jacob Stapleton, Jessica E. Norrell (Oliver), and Franz Imhof (Sheniece), Robert Allison; her sister, Mel Carter; and numerous nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Mom spoke scripture and saw glimpses of heaven until her last breath. "It is beautiful" she would say, as she lay staring at the ceiling. She whispered the words over and over again; "my heart is full and I am blessed!" She loved Jesus, her family, friends, and spending time with them more than anything else, and was loved by all that knew her. She was a tough, strong, independent, and witty woman. She always showed her support by attending ballgames, school functions, and watching the Mudflap Boyz perform classic rock and roll (especially the drummer 😊) at their gigs. Everyone was surprised to find out her favorite rock star is Mick Jagger; she celebrated his birthday with a glass of wine in the ICU, rocking out to the Rolling Stones as we laughed and cried. She also cherished the time spent with her sister, Mel. They loved taking turns traveling each year to visit one another and their families in their home states. She cherished the time on her sister's front porch drinking coffee and talking about their families. When Mel was here, they loved watching movies together, and visiting with family. She did not gossip, never speaking an ill word about anyone. She knew when to hold her tongue and would tell you when to hold yours. She admitted her flaws and taught us that our God is a forgiving, faithful, and loving Father. She lived each day fully alive, with purpose, and a few glasses of wine in moderation didn't hurt either. She didn't make excuses for anything and expected you to take full responsibilities for your actions. She led by example and always remained positive in tough situations. She reminded us to have faith and rely on God. She was truly one of the most beautiful souls that ever lived. We will miss her words of wisdom but will carry the ones we have in our hearts forever. We will lean on the Holy Spirit for strength and strive to live our lives like she did every day. We are reminded that there is never enough time with those we love and cherish each day. She was blessed with an adventurous 90 years of life and she was at peace, surrounded by those she loved when she took her last breath. From this day forward we will continue to talk to her every day and know that we will feel her presence forever. You were a loving mom, grandma (Grambo), GiGi, and friend to all, and an obedient servant to God. We will surely miss you Mom, give Dad, and Richard a big hug from us all, until we meet again in His Kingdom. "Job well done my good and faithful servant"
