Obituary

Emily Gray Hankins, born on January 22, 1998, in Portland, Oregon, passed away on August 14, 2026, in Suffolk, Virginia, at the age of 28. Her departure leaves a deep sadness in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Emily served her country with honor and distinction as a First Class Petty Officer in the United States Navy. Her dedication and commitment to her duties earned her recognition and respect among her peers. Her service included earning the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist designation, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

First and foremost, Emily was a loving, caring, and attentive mother to her three beautiful children. Her nurturing spirit and attentive nature were evident through her interactions, leaving a lasting mark on her family.

Emily had varied interests and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid equestrian, enjoyed fishing and boating, and had fun playing video games with her family. Her love for animals, particularly Dachshunds and horses, reflected her compassionate and caring nature, and she rescued many animals over the years. Emily also found solace in the outdoors through activities such as camping and playing at the beach.

Emily is survived by her three children, Laine, Sebastian, and Payton; parents, Ty and Cyndi Hankins; siblings, Drew and Taylor; paternal grandparents, Phil and Marilyn Hankins, and Kitten Winterberry; maternal grandparents, Chris and Patti Girard; along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory. Emily's funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the same location, with Pastor Ricky Garza officiating. A private burial with military honors will follow at a later date.

Emily's vibrant spirit, dedication to her family, and service to her country will forever be remembered by those whose lives she touched.
