Emeline Grunow Plauka, 90, passed away February 10, 2013. She was born in Egg Harbor, NJ, the daughter of the late Emma Lena Moeller Grunow and Albert Charles Grunow. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Joseph Julius Plauka. Emeline retired from the drafting department of Western Electric Company in Atlanta, GA. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Norfolk. She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, bird watching, playing cards and golf.

Emeline is survived by her daughters, Dr. Gail V. Plauka of Chesapeake, VA, Jody L. Schoen and husband, Dennis of Los Olivos, CA; grandchildren, Lauren Kaplan, Alyssa Kaplan, Kyle Schoen, and Colin Schoen; and sister, Verna B. Grunow of Suffolk, VA.

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 15, 2013 at 10 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Norfolk with the Rev. Dr. Richard Goeres officiating. Inurnment will follow the services at 1 p.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Audubon Society.
