Elva Shaw Reid, 89, passed away September 25, 2014. She was born in Portsmouth, VA the daughter of the late Hazel Holiday Shaw and George Roth Shaw, Sr. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert Mack Reid and son, Ricky Lee Reid. Elva worked as a machine operator from A.P. Nut Plant and Lipton Tea Company. She was a member of Oxford United Methodist Church.

Elva is survived by her son, Herbert Alan Reid; grandchildren, Jennifer Rich and Bert Reid; brother, Howard J. Shaw; nephew, Donnie Ogburn and wife, Louise; and other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held Monday, September 29, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Ken Hanson and Chaplain Dick Dinges officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family for a visitation Sunday afternoon from 3-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
