Elton Purvance Futrell, Jr.,74, of Hertford, North Carolina passed away on September 21, 2006. He was a native of Newsome, NC, born of the late Elton P. Futrell, Sr. and Fannie Jo Vick Futrell and retired from Union Bag Camps after working 38 years. Elton was a member of the Come As You Are Ministry. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Latimore and Pauline Philhouser and two brothers, Rufus Williams and Jim Williams.

Elton was survived by his wife of 37 years, Blandena Futrell;
daughters, Juanita Howard of Chesapeake, Va., Genia DePriest of Newport News, Va. and Teresia Thorne of Elberon, Va.; sons, Tommy Bowman of Elizabeth City, NC, Howard Norris of Dunn, NC, and Larry Futrell of Birmingham, AL.; grandchildren, Richard Norris, Rachel Wiggins, Renee Byrd, Christina Lynch, Shannon Scott, Travis Bowman, Tommy Twiddy, Steve Twiddy, Jesse and Christinia Howard, Stephanie Hart and John Futrell; 21 great grandchildren; and a sister, Josephine Sumner.

Friends may join the family Friday night, September 22 at Parr Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. and other times at the residence. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
