Elsie W. Shotton, 100, of Suffolk, VA passed away August 31, 2008. She was born in Bertie County, NC the daughter of the late Christian Elnora Jernigan Ward and Sylvester Jordan Ward. Elsie attended East Carolina University and later went on to receive training from Lakeview Hospital to become a registered nurse. She was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard John Shotton and daughter, Patricia Anne Windley.

Elsie is survived by her sisters, Magnolia Hicks of Suffolk, VA, Gwendolyn Phelps of Plymouth, NC; son-in-law, Dr. William Windley, Jr. of Lumberton, NC; grandchildren, Dr. William Windley, III of Cary, NC and Dr. Elizabeth Thomas of Charleston, SC. The family would like to acknowledge Janice Thomas for her close friendship and support over the years.

A time of visitation will be held Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA. A graveside service will follow the visitation at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel at 11 a.m. officiated by Rev. D. V. Madison.
