Elizabeth Carolyn Smith, 84, passed away June 7, 2015 after a three month courageous battle with cancer. She was a native of Roduco, NC, and the daughter of the late Shade and Nora Robertson Umphlett. Carolyn was an active member of Oakland Christian Church for 64 years. She loved being a part of the church, especially helping with pie and candy making. She loved farming, cooking, and working in her flower gardens.

Carolyn left behind a husband, Morgan O. Smith, of 66 years; a daughter, Betty Smith Dodd and son in law, Richard W. Dodd; grandson, Kevin Morgan Dodd; granddaughter, Crystal Dodd Jackson and husband, Joshua Alan Jackson; great granddaughter, Olivia Morgan Jackson; sister, Margaret Warren; brother, Clarence Umphlett; sister in law, Emily Umphlett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carolyn's funeral will be held on June 10, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Oakland Christian Church with Rev. Wayne Gardner officiating. Interment will be held at Newman's Cemetery.
