Elise Hanley Corcoran, 96, died November 26, 2009. A native of Sandusky, Ohio, she lived in Suffolk, VA with her family for 61 years. Mrs. Corcoran was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church since 1948, Tidewater Golf Association, and she served in a medical hospital during World War II.
She was a loving mother, the daughter of the late John Edward Hanley and Mary Mackey Hanley. She was predeceased by husband, Dr. David B. Corcoran and son, John Brian Corcoran and a brother, John Hanley. She completed business school in New York City. She enjoyed golfing, swimming, and was an avid reader. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include daughter and son in law, Noreen Corcoran Blackburn, and Richard Blackburn of Cayucos, CA; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin J. and Betty L. Corcoran of Suffolk, VA and David Corcoran of Virginia Beach, VA, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
A graveside service at Holly Lawn Cemetery will be held Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Father Piotr officiating. Friends may join the family Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr. Suffolk, VA 23434 and other times at her residence.
