Effie Barrett O'Berry, 88, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Walter S. Barrett and Ava Marie Darden Barrett. She is also predeceased by her husband of 33 years, George R. O'Berry Sr; an infant daughter; siblings, Eunice Bounds, Elsie White, Betty Burton and Edwin Barrett; niece, Katie Moore; and nephews, Don Barrett and Mike Jory. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Suffolk, VA. She was employed for 20 years as an office manager at J.C. Penney and worked and retired from Crestar Bank after 27 years.

Effie is survived by her son, George R. "Rudy" O'Berry Jr. (Kellie); grandchildren, Shelby O'Berry, Casey Whitlow (Lee) and Erin McCarthy (Mike); great grandchildren, Leah, Liam and Lane, Frankie and Huck; sister, Christine Rock; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Effie's graveside service will be 2:00 pm, Monday, March 8, 2021 at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Dr. Thurman Hayes officiating. Visitation will be 4-5:00 pm, Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, please donate to First Baptist Church of Suffolk, VA.
