Edna Thompson Oakes, 77, passed away March 4, 2021.  She was born in Charles County, Maryland.  She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Smith Oakes; and her sisters, Lizzy Tolson and Betty Williams.  Edna retired from the loan department at Dominion Bank.  She was a member of Biltmore Baptist Church in Portsmouth, VA.

Edna is survived by her daughters, Sherry G. Jeffers and Terry G. McGahan (John); step daughter, Lisa O. Fortin (Eric); grandchildren, Jordan Jeffers, Jared Jeffers (Katherine), Joel Jeffers, Joseph and Christopher Battaglia, Nathan House (Elizabeth), Michael Fortin (Sophie), Bret Fortin (Chekaira); great grandchild, Jackson; sisters, Barbara Coulby (Eddie), Jeannie Burkes (Dennis), Debbie Burcham (Phil); numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory.  Burial will be private at Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery.  Friends may join the family prior to the service for a time of visitation from 12-1 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amedisys Hospice.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
