Edna Moore Howell was received into her eternal home of rest on May 8. Edna was the oldest of four children born to the late Edward and Jeannette Moore, raised in Norfolk, and graduated from Maury High School. Edna was married to Robert Edward Howell in 1942 until Robert's death in 1994. Edna retired from United Virginia Bank after working 40 years in banking. She enjoyed working alongside her husband in their garden sharing its fruits with others. Edna was a lifetime member of Bethlehem Christian Church taking an active part in church activities and organizations.

Edna and Robert were blessed with two daughters, Jeannette Baker (Jack) and Martha Wheeler (Sammy), two granddaughters, Jodie Brinkley (Michael) and Kelly Ellis (Todd), one grandson, Jason Baker, and one great-grandson Noah Brinkley. Edna is also survived by one sister, Mildred White and two brothers, Thomas Moore (Nita), and Billy Moore (Mollie), nieces and nephew.

Edna entered Nansemond Pointe in 1993 brightening hallways with her smile, enjoying singing programs and coloring pictures. The family expresses their gratitude to the care givers at Nansemond Pointe over the past 17 years.

Edna's memory and the example she set will be cherished by the loving family she leaves behind.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Christian Church with Rev. Reggie Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family Monday night from 7-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA for a time of visitation and other times at the residence of Jeannette and Jack Baker.
